WADSWORTH: City Council heard multiple items related to recreation during its meeting Tuesday.
At a committee of the whole session before the regular council meeting, Assistant Service Director Harry Stark told the council the outdoor pool is not expected to open this summer.
According to Stark, bids for construction of the pool will be opened at 2 p.m. Tuesday and completion of the pool is not expected until 157 days after a contract for that construction is approved.
Safety Director Matt Hiscock also recommended that cameras not be installed at Kaleidoscope Park.
The city began considering adding cameras to the park after an investigation of incidents of “roughhousing” was prompted when a resident issued a complaint to a councilman.
Hiscock provided the council with the statistics dating back to 2011 and, based upon those statistics, recommended, " not investing in a camera system."
The city does have camera surveillance at the gazebo in downtown Wadsworth and at the skate park at Valley View Park.
Hiscock did acknowledge "preventive patrols" will continue at the parks.
