By Beacon Jounal staff

WADSWORTH: Scarecrows are expected to be in abundance downtown at the first Scarecrows on the Square Festival Oct. 5 sponsored by the Downtown Wadsworth Association.

Registration to display a scarecrow, along with a $10 fee, must be submitted by Saturday. Forms can be obtained at Carolyn’s Cupboard in downtown Wadsworth or downloaded from the Downtown Wadsworth website,

Completed scarecrows should be taken to the Johnson House, 161 High St., between 10 a.m. and noon, when judging will occur. They are to be made of material that can withstand rain because they are expected to be on display through the Medina County Fall Foliage Tour, Oct. 12-13, said Roger Havens, a member of the Downtown Wadsworth board.

Families, individuals, school groups, community groups, civic organizations, clubs and company teams are encouraged to participate.
