Wadsworth Board of Education comments on Governor Kasich's recent school funding budget proposal

Gov. Kasich has recently proposed a school funding budget favoring private institutions as a means of expanding school choice.

Wadsworth City Schools Board of Education opposes Kasich’s proposed budget, according to Wadsworth City Schools website.

The proposed plan would allow local tax dollars to be used for the support of private institutions and tax dollars would be used to promote financial gain of private institutions to the disadvantage of local taxpayer’s homes and communities.

As representatives of public schools and local communities, the Board of Education encourages whatever choice is in the student’s best interest. In commenting on the proposed budget, the board said the proposed budget creates a playing field that will further divide public communities in favor of private of for-profit institutions.

In conclusion, the proposed school funding budget is an attempt to take local taxpayers dollars to promote the financial gain of private institutions, and the Board of Education opposes the budget.

The Board of Education encourages local support, and for those in agreement to contact the local sate representative to voice your concerns.
