WADSWORTH: City Engineer Tom Tucker told the Public Ways Committee Monday the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency approved $2.35 million to help fund the $15 million plan to improve High Street from West Street to Smokerise Drive.
Plans call for High Street to be widened including the bridge spanning Interstate 76.
The committee suggested that council adopt legislation to provide for the lease or sale of the city-owned building at 138 High Street.
That building, once the home of the Wadsworth Center for Older Adults for nearly four decades, has remained vacant since the Center for Older Adults moved to a new facility at 617 School Drive.
The building, built in 1923, has three stories plus basement and contains more than 13,000 square feet.
