Wadsworth Community Education is offering more than 28 different classes for its winter/spring session.
The program is offered by Wadsworth City Schools and provides educational courses to residents and non-residents. Directed by district employees Brian Madigan and Sarah McIlvaine, the goal of the program, according to Madigan, is "to offer quality programs to citizens of Wadsworth and surrounding communities at a reasonably affordable price."
Madigan said most of the programs will be held at the new Wadsworth High School, 625 Broad Street, and those who sign up will be informed by e-mail as to which room the class will be held.
In the field of computers and technology, the following classes are being offered: Introduction to Computers; Beginning Microsoft Word 2010; Intermediate Microsoft Word 2010; Beginning Microsoft Excel 2010; Intermediate Microsoft Excel 2010; Microsoft Powerpoint 2010; iPads-Questions Answered; and Web Page Design.
An ACT Prep Course will also be offered for high school students to help them learn techniques to obtain the best scores on the standardized college entrance exams.
Yoga and Learn to Run are two courses for those who are interested in courses for health and wellness.
In the area of photography, DSLR Digital Photography and Point and Shoot Digital Photography are on the agenda. Participants are required to bring their own camera for both courses.
World of Investing and Build-A-Business Workshop are designed for those interested in the business field.
In the music field, Just Once Piano for Busy People and Just Once Guitar are courses begin offered for ages 13 and over.
Classes especially designed for children include: Yoga for 5th and 6th graders, Red Cross Babysitting for 11-15 year olds, Homework Helper for grades kindergarten through eighth grade, Elementary Spanish, Self-Defense for grades 2-6, chess for grades 1-6 and Learn to Dance with Your Own Two Feet for grades kindergarten through 4th.
Other offerings include Tool Time, American Sign Language, Pottery for grades 5 through adult, Dog Obedience and Intermediate Dog Obedience.
